Is a F35 series under JSF program.
These series belong to a group named :STOVL
STOVL is an acronym for Short Take Off and Vertical Landing.
This is the ability of some aircraft to take off from a short runway or take off vertically if it does not have a very heavy payload and land vertically (i.e. with no runway).
Let's have a clearer concept about this monster.
There is actually another type of STOVL of aircraft working the same principle as F 35 but serve different purposes.
WOW?? This is actually nothing new to the German military. The same type of aircraft was launched in 1960s. EWR VJ101
I even saw this type with my own eyes and took its photo!!
V-22 Osprey
The V-22 Osprey is a joint service, multimission, military tiltrotor aircraft with both a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) and short takeoff and landing capability (STOL). It is designed to perform missions like a conventional helicopter with the long-range, high-speed cruise performance of a turboprop aircraft.
This video showed not only the V22 Osprey , Apache but also F35 on a Aircraft carrier
What the hell!!
May be some will ask :since there is F35 why we still need V 22 Osprey ?
Simple . F35 fighter jet series is being to Join Strike Fighter Program. Her purpose is to strategically fight in a war (It was!! for cold war i think)
Osprey on another hand is a combination of helicopter and airplane.
She adapt the best of both. The landing option and the lifting load - fuel ratio.
She can carry the load, passenger (not liek fighter jet, max 2pax) and yet fly as fast as a normal plane. (Normal plane fly minimum 2 times faster then the helicopter!)
The commercial use of this model in years to come will be passenger transfer in heavy intensed city like New york ,Tokyo and so on.
I will love to death ,when I sit on one of those!!
